Music
The love of music is something that we feel should be shared with children from a young age so that they appreciate it throughout their lives.
Linda Davis comes to us from the Clark County School District where she worked for the last 7 years as an Elementary Music Specialist. With separate curriculums for Primary, Elementary and Middle school; her students develop their skills accordingly. Primary students’ curriculum incorporates finger plays, unpitched instrument playing, singing, body percussion, steady beat, tempos and dynamics.
As last year Linda will use an entire ensemble of Orff Insturments. Not only will they learn new notes and songs, but more importantly, they will continue to be part of an incredible music experience, joined by singers, creative movers, and instrument players. A listening program of different composers will continue, as well as learning solfege (do, re, mi), enabling students to read and write music. Winter and spring performances will occur with students accompanying themselves on Orff instruments.
Recorders will be assigned to our Upper Elementary and Middle School students and a minimal amount of practice will be required. Choir will be another opportunity for them to participate in music. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday from 3:30-4:15 pm. Choir students will be performing out in the community at various times of the year. |
